Our Mission: To Inspire Students towards a Brighter Future
According to www.whitehouse.gov, the U.S. ranks in the bottom third and bottom fifth in science and math. In response, Honeywell and NASA created FMA Live! in 2004 – an award-winning hip-hop science education program designed to inspire elementary and middle school students to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Not only is FMA Live! an exciting hip-hop show, it’s an innovative demonstration of the science kids encounter in everyday life. It delivers solid lessons that support the learning objectives of the National Science Education Standards for grades 5-8, and helps kids learn that science is the key to understanding the world around them.
Breaking through traditional teaching methodologies, FMA Live! uses high-energy actors, video, and interactive demonstrations to teach concepts like Newton’s Three Laws of Motion:
- Objects in motion – or at rest – stay that way unless acted on by an outside force.
- Force equals mass times acceleration, or F=ma.
- For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction.
